Sparkle, Evergreens and Snow

Sweden has been snowed under all Christmas with large snowflakes floating down from the skies and peacefully covering our world.  For me it was obviously the most tempting scenario to capture with some sparkling jewellery:

The most sparkling and beautiful bracelet from the 50s

I wore this sparkling 1950s bracelet and 1960s earrings on Christmas Day, together with a very simple and elegant black dress from All Saints.  I love wearing fabulous jewellery with an LBD, as the subtlety of the dress allows the sparkle to take the centre place it deserves.

Happy New Year to you dear – and oh yes, New Year’s Eve is obviously the perfect opportunity to sparkle and shine to your heart’s content so don’t hold back!

Happy Holidays dear!

We are taking a short Christmas break from today and will be back again in January (if not sooner, who knows when I get my hands on a camera next?!)  Thank you for following the Decades of Elegance adventures and rest assured that there will be many more to come in 2013!

These little fellows are also wishing you a lovely holiday season and we will see you in less than two weeks!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you!

Antique snake necklace with rubies, diamonds and a stunning sapphire

As I wore the snake necklace on Portobello Road on Saturday I stopped by to speak with an antique dealer in one of the arcades, who has the most stunning selection of high-end antique and vintage jewellery.

She showed me one of her necklaces, also in the shape of a snake which drapes around your neck, and I was able to photograph it for you, and which you can order from me:

Snake jewellery really fascinate me, and Queen Victoria’s engagement ring was in fact in the shape of a snake, designed especially for her by her beloved Albert, as snakes were a symbol of eternal love.  Engagement rings used to contain the lady’s birthstone, and in Victoria’s case the snake had an emerald-set head.

You will now start seeing some high-end jewellery as well on the blog, which is so exciting as we have a wonderful range of the most stunning pieces embellished with precious stones.

I will of course continue writing about our every day pieces as well, so I hope you will enjoy the array of all these lovely collections!

Where rock chic meets Elizabeth Taylor glamour

This has probably been one of my favourite posts to write so far!  This is my favourite 1960s snake necklace, which has here put us under the spell of rock chic and sparkling Elizabeth Taylor glamour!

See for yourself and let me know if you fall in love with it:

Worn with a black leather jacket, skinny jeans and heels it turns the whole outfit around!

Yes you can wear it with a stunning cocktail dress as well, I just love this laid-back approach where you can just make it out under the jacket

Ahhh yesterday’s silver rings are perfecting this edgy look!

With or without your fabulous knitted gloves of course!

Oh today is a day to love fashion – wear something you wouldn’t usually dare to wear and express your fabulous individuality.  It is a wonderful road to happiness!

Knitted gloves and silver rings

So in Friday’s post we looked at a few of the silver rings that I bought the other day and today I thought we should look at some how we can wear them in the winter.

I love love love knitted gloves that don’t cover your fingers when it is not too cold outside and I think the silver goes so nicely with them.

These rings look fabulous when you wear lots of them together.

Love love – happy winter!

Silver rings…

Today we are obsessing about silver rings… I scouted around Angel, Covent Garden and Portobello Market to find a good collection and here is the first part!  How divine when worn many together with for example an edgy black dress – we love!

1920s style silver and marcasite earrings with a faux pearl

Such beautiful and simple little things

I picked up these lovely little earrings in Angel the other day.  They are a remake of 1920 style earrings and I love how elegant and dainty they are.  Perfect for that work outfit or for Sunday lunch at a beautiful countryside pub.

The silver is designed in a wonderful way so that it creates two arches that meet at the bottom by the pearl.  The marcasites are sparkling and absolutely stunning – I hope you love it as much as I do!

There is always time for a vintage tea party!

One of my best philosophies in life is that there is always time for afternoon tea!

The Chelsea Teapot is a lovely hidden little gem on King’s Road (number 402) which my sister and I stumbled upon once, and enjoyed the most amazing quiches and salads – and topped it all off with the perfect scones!  We were so pleased with the place that I decided to recommend it to you:

Everything looks so tasty yummm!

Teapots for sale

I really like this place as you can choose to order only a few sweet things and get some super tasty savoury dishes as well – instead of having to work your way through a tower or sweetness (unless you have an amazing sweet tooth, in which case that would of course be heaven for you!)

They also do homemade organic gluten and wheat free little things, and offer fabulous fruit and vegetable juices – as well as breakfasts!

Just a thought: gather your girlfriends together on a Sunday afternoon, put on your Sunday best and head over this gorgeous little place for some quality time!

Not to mention their range of mouthwatering cupcakes…

Sparkling 1950s stud earrings

… and a pair of dainty little silver earrings with sparkling stones perfects our 1950s collection with the ring and the necklace!

I find that a pair of studs is an essential part of the perfect jewellery collection, as they go with everything!  If you are wearing a very bold necklace, maybe one with lots of gorgeous sparkle, you don’t want to wear massive earrings à la Elizabeth Taylor – unless you are of course going to the Oscar’s to receive yet another award.  If you instead wear some pretty little studs the necklace will get all the attention it deserves, but your look will still be tied together nicely.

1950s sparkling silver ring

So you might remember the necklace from last week which I scouted for a friend?  As mentioned it comes with a ring:

… which happens to be the most glorious little thing!

A side view

and a view from the front

Such a precious little collection and I am looking forward to showing you the earrings tomorrow!
